Vail Resorts launched a multimedia online newsroom to highlight “what happens when the snow melts.” Although travel journalists and vacationers alike tend to associate Vail with skiing and other snow sports, the new Vail Summer Newsroom features stories, videos and photos showcasing summer festivals, mountain biking, skating, trail running, hiking, kayaking, and white water rafting.

The new Vail Summer Newsroom highlights “what happens when the snow melts.”
The site is the latest of more than a dozen online newsrooms created by TEKGROUP International for Vail Resorts. The Vail Summer newsroom uses TEKGROUP’s latest V. 11 mobile-friendly responsive design and maintains Vail Resorts’ signature branding elements. “The Vail online newsroom properties are valuable, asset-rich resources for journalists and consumers—they are some of my favorite newsrooms and always get rave reviews from others seeking best-in-class in travel sites,” says TEKGROUP Partner and Cofounder Steve Momorella.
Newsrooms in the travel category are among the most  requently accessed by smartphones and tablets, according to Momorella, who said that 45% of traffic to TEKGROUP’s travel-related newsrooms comes from mobile devices, second only to newsrooms in the retail category, which get 50% of their traffic from mobile.

The new Vail Summer news site integrates social media, with large Facebook and Twitter embeds allowing users to share, like, and retweet right from the newsroom itself. The newsroom also offers a number of features aimed at journalists, such as a large photo gallery that includes downloadable hi-res images and a page with multiple, segmented RSS feeds.
