“Here’s the formula if you want to build a billion-dollar internet company,” says Twitter founder Ev Williams, “Take a human desire, preferably one that has been around for a really long time … identify that desire and use modern technology to take out steps.” Jay Acunzo of the Content Marketing Institute quotes Williams in a recent post focused on the ways smart content marketing, like useful technology, removes steps.
An online newsroom is a great way to remove steps and get your news and other branded content out to the people who need and want it. With an online newsroom, you become the publisher, so there’s no need to submit press releases to a wire service (and no need to pay for that service), mail out press kits, or submit story ideas to the journalists and bloggers on your short list in the hopes they might write about what matters to you. You simply write the story, choose the people, publications and social media platforms to send it to, then submit. Multiple steps removed, multiple audiences informed, multiple minutes and dollars saved.
