There are a few options for integrating your press releases automatically into Facebook, but I’ve chosen the easiest and painless approach.  Nearly every section/page on your newsroom comes with a built in RSS feed, which is what you need to setup the automatic posting into Facebook.  In addition, we’ve built custom RSS feeds for the popular social media sites.  We do this to allow you to tailor the type of content you want to post onto your Facebook page because it could very well be different from the type of content you post onto your LinkedIn account.  If you want every single piece of news to hit your Facebook Wall, you could setup the connection to use your Press Release RSS feed, but if you’re inclined to keep the type of content you post onto Facebook “social” in nature, we encourage you to integrate and use your custom Facebook RSS feed.  The following tutorial will show you exactly how to use this feed.


Twitterfeed is a great 3rd party service that allows you to incorporate multiple RSS feeds into your Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.  The first step in integrating your newsroom and Facebook is to register an account with Twitterfeed:
  1. Load the Twitterfeed website: http://twitterfeed.com/
  2. Click the “Register” button on the home page
  3. Enter your desired login credentials.
  4. After you create your account, you are automatically routed into the Feed Setup wizard.  For the sake of this Tutorial, we’ll be focusing on the Facebook Feed:
    1. On Step 1 provide some kind of label that makes sense to you for easy identification.  Example:  Newsroom Facebook RSS Feed.
    2. Also on Step 1 paste in the URL to the newsroom’s Facebook RSS Feed.  This URL can be found by clicking on the Facebook link under the “Social Media Feeds” area on the press release tool.  It will launch a new window containing the feed and you can copy the website address in the address bar.

    3. Step 2 involves granting the Twitterfeed application access to your Facebook account.  Make sure you are logged into the corporate Facebook account and then click the Facebook link. 

    4. On the next screen, leave the "Authenticate Facebook Account" dropdown as is and click the “Connect with Facebook” button.

    5. You’ll be routed over to the Twitterfeed description on Facebook.  Click the “Go to App” button.

    6. Finally you’ll be asked to “Allow” Twitterfeed access to your Facebook account.  Click the “Allow” button.

    7. You are then returned to Twitterfeed and the message should indicate that you are now connected to your corporate Facebook account.  VERY IMPORTANT:  click the "Create Service" at the bottom of the form to complete the setup. 

  5. Please note that when you add feeds, it takes Twitterfeed about an hour to initially process them. However once that's done your feeds should be published within minutes from then on.

Posting to Facebook from your Newsroom

Once you’ve connected your Facebook account with the instructions above, it’s as simple as checking off a checkbox.  While in the press release tool, you’ll see the listing of Social Media Feeds mid way down the form. 

If this is a release you’d like to publish to your Facebook wall, simply check the Facebook checkbox.  Your article should appear within a few minutes on your Facebook wall.
